Serving

We believe that God has put individual gifts and passions in all people to be used for His glory. If you are a part of Ashbourne Elim Church, we would encourage you to explore, use and develop those gifts and passions. See below for an example of ministries in which you could use those passions to serve God and His church.

If you’d like to serve on any of these teams, please register your interest on the form at the bottom of the page.

Sunday Teams

What? Teach (or assist) one of our kids church groups. Either aged 3-5, 5-8 or 9-11.
When? During the Sunday service with set up and pack down time either side. Preparation time in the week is also required.
How often? Usually once a month

What? Serve refreshments (inc hot drinks) to those attending our services – both before and after the service.
When? During the Sunday service. Set up from 9:30am and pack down the kitchen afterwards. Usually finishing by 12:30pm.
How often? Usually once a month

What? Offering a warm welcome to those attending church. Helping new people as they arrive and ensuring that seats are available for all who attend
When? Prior to & following Sunday service. Starting at 9:50am and saying goodbye at end of the service until 12noon.
How often? Usually once a month

What? Operating the sound (in building & online) and cameras. Training can be given but an understanding of mixing is useful.  
When? Thursday evening practice (7pm) and Sunday morning (9am start)
How often? On a rota about once a month

What? Putting up the lyrics, PowerPoints, videos etc from the PC to the screens. Training can be provided
When? Thursday evening practice (7pm) and Sunday morning (9am start)
How often? On a rota about once a month

What? Being part of the band who leads our sung worship section of the service. This can include (but not limited to) guitar, keys, drums, bass, vocals, leading. It is important that you have a level of competence on your instrument but we are happy to see people develop that gifting as part of the band.   
When? Thursday evening practice (7pm) and Sunday morning (9am start)
How often? At least once a month

What? Praying for the service (before service) and being able to pray for people as part of the Sunday service.  
When? 10am start on Sunday.
How often? Usually once a month

Midweek Teams

What? Setting up the building ready for our Sunday service. This includes putting out 150 chairs and ensuring all rooms are clear from items that shouldn’t be in there.   
When? Saturday afternoon/evening
How often? At least once a month

What? Helping as part of our foodbank team. A mixtures of collecting food donations, putting stock on shelves and making food parcels.
When? Monday, Wednesday or Friday morning (9-12)
How often? At least once a month on a rota.

What? Helping serve drinks & food at our coffee and toast sessions. Having conversations with those that attend  
When? Wednesday morning 9:45-12:15.
How often? At least once a month

What? Being part of our Little Sparkles (parent & toddler) team. This can range to registration, kitchen team, chatting with parents, leading nursery rhymes or telling bible stories.   
When? Thursday morning – 9-12.
How often? Ideally weekly but this can be flexible if needed

What? Setting up for our Little Sparkles (parent and toddler) group.
When? Wednesday evening or early Thursday morning
How often? Ideally weekly but this can be flexible if needed

What? Being part of our Friday night team. This can range to leading games, registration and doing a short talk but always requires interaction with young people (aged 11-18).   
When? Friday evening – 6:30-8:30pm.
How often? Usually once a month

What? Generally helping with keeping our building clean, tidy and safe. Whether that’s cleaning, hoovering or fixing little problems.
When? Whenever
How often? Whenever available

What? Helping create graphics for events and general church needs.   
When? Flexible
How often? When required

What? Helping interact with young people at the Youth Hub

When? Tuesdays. 3:20-4:40pm
How often? Ideally weekly
